WHO THE F*CK ARE JACOB & THE DAZEY CHAIN? 〰️

Jacob & the Dazey Chain is the vision of 22-year-old singer, songwriter, and guitarist Jacob Reese Thornton. Based in Nashville, the project blends the anthemic swagger of Brit-pop with a sharp alternative-rock edge, channeling influences like Oasis, The Strokes, Green Day, and The Killers into a sound that feels both nostalgic and boldly their own.

Since forming in 2019, they’ve cut their teeth everywhere from sweaty club stages to major festivals—including a standout appearance at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival. In 2024, J&DC completed their first East Coast U.S. and U.K. clubtour, highlighted by a sold-out show in Miami and headline performances in London and Manchester. Their debut album, DON’T LOOK AWAY!, has earned over 900,000 Spotify streams and landed on six Apple Music editorial playlists.

This year, Jacob signed with East Iris Records, a division of Universal Music Group, and is preparing to release new music soon. The upcoming EP—produced by Tone Def (Green Day, Briston Maroney) and recorded at East Iris Studios in Nashville—is his most explosive, cinematic, and self-assured record yet.

A few of Jacob’s early career highlights include breaking into Amazon’s Top 25, best selling alternative rock releases and the iTunes Top 100 indie charts with his debut EP, “The Sky Is All I Need to Get High”. The EP's accompanying single and title track entered the Top 20 downloads for all AAA + U.S. Rock Specialty radio stations, as well as receiving extensive airplay from KROQ’s legendary Rodney Bingenheimer. Select tracks on the EP were recorded with Grammy-nominated artist and producer Bill Reynolds of Band of Horses and featured Rami Jaffee of Foo Fighters on keyboards. Other notable collaborations include touring with Radiohead drummer Clive Deamer and working with bass legend Tony Franklin (The Firm) on a searing cover of "I Can See For Miles" by The Who; which the band themselves praised and shared across their socials. Jacob is endorsed by Taylor Guitars, Ernie Ball, and is a next generation brand ambassador for Magnatone Amplifiers.

Classic Rock Magazine labeled Jacob “A force to be reckoned with” in their Feb. ’21 issue, and Sirius XM Volume’s Lori Majewski’s noted, “It’s a once in a generational thing…I don’t think we get enough of these”. The Aquarian Weekly most recently quoted, “Jacob & The Dazey Chain represent Tasteful, Artistic Nostalgia. Young taste-maker Jacob Thornton, the talented and prolific rockstar-on-the rise who has one hand reaching toward the 2020’s and the other holding on tightly to the 1970’s.”
